Doily Dress Folds Tutorial

I've had a bunch of folks ask me how to do the folds, so I'm finally gonna do it!  Yay!

Hope the following makes sense:

Take a 4" paper doily...the kind you can buy in packs in the cake
decorating section of Michaels, A.C. Moore, etc.
There is a front and back to the doily.
Start with the doily face down.

Fold 1 1/2" from the right (or approximately 11 & 4 o'clock)
Then fold down the other side 1 1/2".
Be sure to line up right side so it is a straight edge.
Adhere the top fold down
Fold tip down toward the back so there is an approximate 3/4" topline

Adhere the folded tip to the back

Take the second doily and put it on a piece of white card stock.
Using a 1 1/2 heart punch (Creative Memories), punch out both pieces at the same time
(the doily doesn't punch well by itself - it's too thin and gets stuck in the punch)
Adhere the punched doily heart to the card stock heart
Trim off edges to form bodice

(I suggest punching out a cardstock heart and trim it to your liking,
then use it for a template so that the sides end up even.
Adhere the bottom of the front of the bodice to the top of the back of the skirt.
The back view is above, and the front view is below.
Wrap a 2" piece of ribbon around the waist,
and ONLY adhere to the BACK of the dress.
Take a 4" piece of ribbon and insert it through the waist ribbon,
fold over as pictured, then trim off the tails to your liking.

(At this point, decide if you will be using a brad or gemstone, etc. - if using a brad, insert it at this step.  If using a gemstone, first use adhesive to hold down the ribbon to the waistband.)
Finish off by add the brad or gemstone and/or any other bling of your choice.

Your dress is now ready to adhere to the front of a card or scrapbook page, etc.

I hope the above tutorial made sense :)

I'd love to see your creations, so please message me
with your completed dresses :)

  14. I was wondering what size ribbon you used? I know the length you cut to make the dress wrap but did you use 3/8" or smaller? Using this for bridal shower invites!!

    1. The maroon is 5/8 and the purple is 1/4....so I'd stay in that range. But you can use whatever size you'd like! Please send me a photo when done!

  17. Wonderful! Thank you for sharing! May I ask where you got the heart hole punch? I can't find a 1 1/2 inch anywhere. I found this 2 inch one but I am concerned that the heart will be too big or that the punch is poor quality: http://www.amazon.com/Uchida-LV-SJCP01-Clever-Lever-Super/dp/B00161SQN0/ref=pd_bxgy_ac_img_c
Also, what type of adhesive do you use?

    Thank you!

    1. The heart punch I used is from Creative Memories - there are a bunch of them listed on Ebay. For adhesive, I use the Tombow double-sided adhesive tape runner, but I would think any craft adhesive would work.

  51. If you happen to looking for just a gay sizegenetics and look at some places, you have no guarantee as to whether or not you are likely to actually be ready to get what we are looking for. Furthermore, you're taking a chance. There is certainly an impressive many to choose from who prey on gay men when considering this sort of thing. It's important to get what you wish for, but just as important you want to do so safely. This can be why that you're at the far better way to use an agency to have just what you are looking for when contemplating a sizegenetics.

  65. I bought my wedding dress with my fiance(totally found it on accident at a little antique store) so none of the women in my life have seen it. I was bummed that I wouldn't have the typical dress shopping with mom, sisters, etc. So I'm planning a little get together with my close female family and friends to try on my dress for them. I hope to make that sweet little doily dress to put on invitations! Thank you so much!
